AN ACT DOUBLING THE FINE FOR USING A CELLULAR TELEPHONE WHILE OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE IN A SCHOOL OR CONSTRUCTION ZONE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That sections 14-212a and 14-212b of the general statutes, concerning the additional fine imposed for traffic violations occurring in a highway construction or school zone, be amended to include a violation of section 14-296aa of the general statutes, concerning the use of a hand-held mobile telephone or mobile electronic device while operating a motor vehicle.
Statement of Purpose:
To make school and construction zones safer by doubling the fine imposed on a person who uses a hand-held cellular telephone or mobile electronic device while operating a motor vehicle in a school or construction zone.
