AN ACT CONCERNING EDUCATION AND JUVENILE REENTRY. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That section 10-186 of the general statutes be amended to require local and regional boards of education to immediately enroll any student that transfers from Unified School District #1 or Unified School District #2 and enroll such student in the school that such student attended prior to enrollment in Unified School District #1 or Unified School District #2, unless such school does not offer the grade level necessary for such student; that section 10-220h of the general statutes be amended to require that when a student enrolls in a new school district that such school district notify such student's previous school district of such student's new enrollment not later than two days after such student registers in the new school district and to include Unified School District #2 in the provisions regarding enrollment notification and the transfer of student records; and that section 10-233d of the general statutes be amended to limit the amount of time a student may be expelled to one hundred eighty school days minus the number of school days a student was placed in residential placement. Statement of Purpose: To require the immediate enrollment of students who transfer from Unified School District #1 and Unified School District #2, to amend notification laws regarding student transfers and to limit the amount of time a student may be expelled from school.
