AN ACT PROHIBITING THE ISSUANCE OF SAFETY INSPECTION STICKERS OR REGISTRATION PLATES FOR CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2011) A safety inspection sticker or registration plate shall not be issued for a motorcycle unless the manufacturer's imprint on the body of such motorcycle and on the tail pipe are the same, unless a difference in such imprints is attributable to the installation of aftermarket pipes that comply with decibel limits established by the state for such pipes.

 


This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose: 

To prevent the issuance of safety inspection stickers or registration plates to motorcycles with illegal aftermarket pipes.
