AN ACT CONCERNING RAW MILK AND THE BENEFITS OF HERD SHARE AGREEMENTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (Effective from passage) Not later than October 1, 2011, the Department of Agriculture shall study the benefits of allowing herd share agreements that permit not more than four persons to enter such an agreement for the purpose of obtaining and personally consuming raw milk produced by the animal that is the subject of such agreement. In accordance with section 11-4a of the general statutes, not later than February 1, 2012, the department shall submit a report to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to the environment. Such report shall detail both the potential benefits and concerns with permitting such herd share agreements and shall include any recommendations including, but not limited to, any statutory changes required to authorize such agreements.
