2424 AN ACT EXPANDING GROUP HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR THE TREATMENT OF AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS TO CERTIFICATE HOLDERS IN THIS STATE.

2828 Section 1. Subsection (b) of section 38a-514b of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective January 1, 2012):

3030 (b) Each group health insurance policy or certificate providing coverage of the type specified in subdivisions (1), (2), (4), (11) and (12) of section 38a-469 that is delivered, issued for delivery, renewed, amended or continued in this state shall provide coverage for the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorders. For the purposes of this section and section 38a-513c, an autism spectrum disorder shall be considered an illness.
