2424 AN ACT CONCERNING REPORTS ON THE TRAINING OF PROSECUTORIAL OFFICIALS.

2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

2828 Section 1. Section 51-279c of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2011):

3030 The Chief State's Attorney shall establish a formal training program for all newly-appointed prosecuting attorneys consisting of not less than five days and an ongoing training program for all prosecuting attorneys consisting of not less than two days each year. Such training programs shall commence January 1, 1998. The Chief State's Attorney shall submit a report annually to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to the judiciary indicating (1) the type of training provided pursuant to this section, and (2) the number of newly-appointed prosecuting attorneys trained pursuant to this section and total number of prosecuting attorneys trained pursuant to this section. The Chief State's Attorney shall submit the first such report not later than January 1, 2012, and shall submit subsequent reports not later than January first of each year thereafter.
