2424 AN ACT CONCERNING THE PROVISION OF BODY MODIFICATION SERVICES TO MINORS.

2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

2828 Section 1. Section 19a-92g of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective October 1, 2012):

3030 (a) No person may (1) perform body piercing, or (2) enlarge, or insert a device intended to enlarge, any body piercing or ear lobe piercing on an unemancipated minor under eighteen years of age without the written permission of the minor's parent or legal guardian. For purposes of this subsection, "body piercing" means piercing or creating a channel through any part of the body other than the ear lobe for the purpose of inserting a decorative object, and "ear lobe" means the lower portion of the auricle having no cartilage.

3232 (b) Any municipal health authority established under chapter 368e and any district department of health established under chapter 368f may, within its available resources, enforce the provisions of this section.
