AN ACT INCREASING FINES FOR DISTRACTED DRIVING.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That subsection (h) of section 14-296aa of the general statutes, concerning the fines for illegal use of a mobile telephone or other electronic device while operating a motor vehicle, be amended to increase the fine for (1) a first violation of said section to one hundred fifty dollars, (2) a second violation of said section to three hundred dollars, and (3) a third or subsequent violation of said section to five hundred dollars.
Statement of Purpose:
To increase penalties for distracted driving.
