AN ACT REQUIRING REFUNDS FOR DAMAGED AND DEFECTIVE GOODS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 42-110aa of the general statutes be amended to require retail establishments to accept returned goods and issue a full cash or credit refund to the person returning the goods, provided the goods are damaged or not functioning properly at the time of purchase and further provided the goods are returned not greater than 48 hours after purchase. 

Statement of Purpose: 

To protect consumers by requiring retailers to give refunds for damaged and defective items.
