AN ACT CONCERNING RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS FOR PROSPECTIVE CANDIDATES. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 153 of the general statutes be amended to provide that any prospective candidate for an elected office in which residency is a requirement shall provide at least one year's proof of residency to the Secretary of the State before filing a candidacy for such an office. Rental or mortgage contracts, a driver's license or utility bills may constitute proof of such residency. Statement of Purpose: To ensure that prospective candidates for an elected office with a residency requirement supply proof of meeting such requirement for at least one year before filing a candidacy.
