AN ACT STRENGTHENING THE LAWS REGARDING YOUTH SUICIDE PREVENTION. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to strengthen the laws regarding youth suicide prevention by emphasizing suicide assessment, treatment and management in (1) school district policies addressing school bullying, (2) in-service training for teachers, and (3) professional training for advisors and counselors, chemical dependency professionals, marriage and family therapists, mental health counselors, occupational therapy practitioners, psychologists, advanced social workers and independent clinical social workers. To further provide that such training be completed by such professionals at least once every six years. Statement of Purpose: To bring awareness to the signs and symptoms of youth suicide and to develop ways to prevent its occurrence.
