AN ACT EXEMPTING FROM PROPERTY TAX CLASS I RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES FOR MUNICIPAL USE. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That section 12-81 of the general statutes be amended to exempt from property tax any Class I renewable energy source owned by a nonmunicipal party and installed for the generation of electricity on a municipal building. Statement of Purpose: To promote the use of renewable energy sources and to allow municipalities to benefit from such sources by expanding current law that allows a property tax exemption for renewable energy sources only if the generation of electricity is for residential or farm use.
