2121 AN ACT INCREASING THE PENALTIES FOR UNDERAGE DRINKING AND THE PURCHASE OF ALCOHOL BY A MINOR.

2323 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

2525 That (1) subsection (b) of section 30-89 of the general statutes be amended to increase the fine for a second or subsequent violation of the prohibition on a minor possessing alcoholic liquor to not less than five hundred dollars or more than one thousand dollars, (2) subsection (a) of section 14-111e of the general statutes be amended to require the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles to suspend for thirty days the operator's license of a person under twenty-one years of age who is convicted of a violation of subsection (a) of section 30-89 of the general statutes for purchasing, attempting to purchase or making a false statement for the purpose of procuring alcoholic liquor, (3) subdivision (2) of subsection (b) of section 30-86 of the general statutes be amended to increase from one thousand five hundred dollars to three thousand dollars the maximum fine for any person who sells, ships, delivers or gives alcoholic liquor to a minor, and (4) title 30 of the general statutes be amended to provide that any person who gives money to a minor knowing that such minor intends to use such money to purchase alcoholic liquor shall be fined not less than five hundred dollars or more than one thousand dollars.
