AN ACT REQUIRING NURSING HOME FACILITIES TO PROVIDE INFORMATION CONCERNING SAFETY INCIDENTS TO PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 19a-550 of the general statutes be amended to require nursing home facilities and chronic disease hospitals to provide patients and their family members with information concerning (1) the number of patient safety incidents that have occurred at the facility in the two calendar years preceding the patient's admission, (2) corrective actions taken as a result of such safety incidents, and (3) methods to access the Department of Public Health's records concerning safety violations at the facility.
Statement of Purpose:
To ensure families have adequate information concerning the quality of care a patient may receive when placed in a nursing home facility.
