AN ACT REQUIRING NOTICE TO REPRESENTATIVES OF CERTAIN PATIENTS CONCERNING HEALTH CARE DECISIONS. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That chapter 368a of the general statutes be amended to require a health care provider to notify a person designated as the representative for any patient who is incoherent, elderly or whose primary language is not English of all decisions concerning the patient's care prior to taking any action, except in the case of an emergency and provided the representative has given the health care provider his or her contact information. Statement of Purpose: To protect a patient who is incoherent, elderly or whose primary language is not English by requiring the patient's representative be informed of all decisions regarding the patient's care prior to taking action, except in cases of an emergency and provided the representative has furnished immediate contact information.
