AN ACT CONCERNING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE RAISE THE GRADE PILOT PROGRAM.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the Department of Children and Families, in consultation with the Department of Education, establish the Raise the Grade pilot program to be implemented in the cities of Hartford, Bridgeport and New Haven for the purpose of increasing the academic achievement of children and youth who are living in the care or custody of the Commissioner of Children and Families or who are being served by the Court Support Services Division in such cities. Such program shall ensure that such children and youth are provided with appropriate instruction, counseling, tutoring and related services with the goal of improving academic achievement, reducing truancy and adverse disciplinary actions and fostering positive outcomes.

Statement of Purpose: 

To establish the Raise the Grade pilot program to increase the academic achievement of children and youth in the care or custody of the Commissioner of Children and Families or being served by the Court Support Services Division in Hartford, Bridgeport and New Haven.
