AN ACT CONCERNING INDEPENDENT MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to require the Workers' Compensation Commissioner to order a neutral party to undertake an independent medical examination of an injured worker when the results of the independent medical examination conducted by the worker's physician and the independent medical examination conducted by the workers' compensation insurer are irreconcilable.

Statement of Purpose: 

To require the Workers' Compensation Commissioner to utilize a neutral party to resolve any conflicts that arise when the results of the independent medical examinations conducted by the injured worker and the workers' compensation insurer are fundamentally opposed.
