AN ACT ESTABLISHING BIPARTISAN SENATE AND HOUSE COMMITTEES ON ETHICS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to establish a Bipartisan Senate Committee on Ethics and a Bipartisan House Committee on Ethics that shall have the authority (1) to investigate any alleged illegal or unethical conduct by any member of the Senate, in the case of the Senate committee, or of the House, in the case of the House committee, and (2) to recommend sanctions, including, but not limited to, the expulsion, censure or reprimand of any such member who is found to have engaged in misconduct. 

Statement of Purpose: 

To restore the public trust in the state legislature and to provide a nonpartisan, objective means to respond to official misconduct by establishing Bipartisan Senate and House Committees on Ethics.
