AN ACT REVISING THE EARNED RISK REDUCTION CREDIT PROGRAM.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 18-98e of the general statutes be amended to: (1) Immediately suspend the earned risk reduction credit program and amend the program to prevent inmates convicted of certain offenses from earning credit through the program; (2) prohibit inmates who are not currently earning risk reduction credit in the program from earning credit; (3) require the Commissioner of Correction to review the program to determine if there are any possible additional methods for strengthening the program in the interest of public safety; and (4) require the Commissioner of Correction to report the results of such review and any recommendations regarding such methods to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to the judiciary. 

Statement of Purpose: 

To suspend and revise the earned risk reduction credit program in the interest of public safety.
