AN ACT CONCERNING STANDARDS FOR SCHOOLS AT FACILITIES UNDER THE CONTROL OF OR CONTRACTED WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES AND THE COURT SUPPORT SERVICES DIVISION. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the Department of Children and Families and the Court Support Services Division prepare and make publicly available a school profile, similar to the strategic school profile submitted pursuant to section 10-220 of the general statutes, for schools in Unified School District #2, at Court Support Services Division facilities and private congregate care facilities contracted by the Department of Children and Families and the Court Support Services Division. To further amend section 10-76d of the general statutes to include facilities under the control of or contracted with the Department of Children and Families and the Court Support Services Division. To further require schools at private congregate care facilities, Unified School District #2 and facilities under the control of the Court Support Services Division to conduct a self review, on-site review by the Department of Education and a follow-up review by the Department of Education. To further require the Department of Education to establish standards for the certification of schools at facilities under the control of or contracted with the Department of Children and Families or the Court Support Services Division, including professional development and teaching competencies for educating youth in state care or custody. Statement of Purpose: To establish standards for and monitor schools at facilities under the control of or contracted with the Department of Children and Families and the Court Support Services Division.
