AN ACT CONCERNING ENHANCED MONITORING OF CERTAIN PAROLEES.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to: (1) Authorize local police officers to temporarily hold in custody a parolee if such parolee has committed an act of a serious nature that would constitute a violation of the terms of his parole; (2) require such officer to notify such parolee's parole officer within seventy-two hours of taking such parolee into custody; and (3) require that any parolee taken into custody under this section for an act that would constitute a technical violation of parole shall only be held in custody until such time as the police officer can notify the parolee's parole officer. 

Statement of Purpose: 

To promote public safety by enhancing parole enforcement.
