2424 AN ACT CREATING A STATE COLD WAR CERTIFICATE.

2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

2828 Section 1. (NEW) (Effective from passage) Upon application, the Commissioner of Veterans' Affairs shall present a certificate, known as the Cold War certificate, to any person who (1) served at least ninety or more cumulative days in the armed forces, as defined in section 27-103 of the general statutes, during the Cold War era, (2) is a resident of the state or was a resident of the state while serving in the armed forces during the Cold War era, and (3) was honorably discharged from, or released under honorable conditions from active service in, the armed forces. Such application shall be on a form prescribed by the commissioner and may require the applicant to submit a military discharge document, as defined in section 1-219 of the general statutes, or any other evidence the commissioner deems necessary to establish that the applicant is entitled to the Cold War certificate. For purposes of this section, "Cold War era" means the period beginning September 2, 1945, and ending December 26, 1991.
