2424 AN ACT CONCERNING PROHIBITED ACTIVITY ON PROPERTY CONTROLLED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS' AFFAIRS.

2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

2828 Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2014) (a) Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 29-35 and 53-206 of the general statutes, a person is guilty of possession of a weapon upon property controlled by the Department of Veterans' Affairs when, knowing that such person is not privileged to do so, such person possesses a deadly weapon, as defined in section 53a-3 of the general statutes, in or on the real property comprising the Veterans' Home or any real property owned or controlled by the Department of Veterans' Affairs.

3030 (b) The provisions of subsection (a) of this section shall not apply to the otherwise lawful possession of a deadly weapon by (1) a person for use in a program approved by the Commissioner of Veterans' Affairs in or on such real property, (2) a person in accordance with an agreement entered into between the commissioner and such person or such person's employer, or (3) a peace officer, as defined in section 53a-3 of the general statutes, while engaged in the performance of such peace officer's official duties.
