26 | 26 | Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: | |

(NEW) (Effective October 1, 2014) (a) Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 29-35 and 53-206 of the general statutes, a person is guilty of possession of a weapon upon property controlled by the Department of Veterans' Affairs when, knowing that such person is not privileged to do so, such person possesses a deadly weapon, as defined in section 53a-3 of the general statutes, in or on the real property comprising the Veterans' Home or any real property owned or controlled by the Department of Veterans' Affairs. | |

30 | 30 | (b) The provisions of subsection (a) of this section shall not apply to the otherwise lawful possession of a deadly weapon by (1) a person for use in a program approved by the Commissioner of Veterans' Affairs in or on such real property, (2) a person in accordance with an agreement entered into between the commissioner and such person or such person's employer, or (3) a peace officer, as defined in section 53a-3 of the general statutes, while engaged in the performance of such peace officer's official duties. | |
