AN ACT EXPANDING HEALTHY FOOD CHOICES ON STATE PROPERTY AND IN STATE-SUPPORTED INSTITUTIONS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 19a of the general statutes be amended to require all food and beverages purchased, sold, served or otherwise provided by any state agency, as defined in section 1-79 of the general statutes, including, but not limited to, through vending machines, on-site vendors, cafeterias, meetings, events or institutional feeding programs to meet minimum nutrition and procurement standards established by the Department of Public Health, provided such standards are consistent with health and sustainability guidelines set forth by the federal General Services Administration for federal concessions and vending operations.

Statement of Purpose: 

To expand healthy food choices on state property and in state-supported institutions.
