AN ACT REQUIRING NOTIFICATION OF PARENTS BEFORE CHILDREN ARE CITED BY POLICE OR ASSIGNED FOR STATE SERVICES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That title 17a of the general statutes be amended to prohibit police from citing a child under the age of twelve or the Department of Children and Families from assigning such child for services without reasonable efforts to notify both parents.
Statement of Purpose:
To allow for reasonable efforts to be made to contact parents prior to a child being cited by police or assigned for services by the Department of Children and Families.
