AN ACT CONCERNING SOCIAL MEDIA AND CONSUMER PRIVACY.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

To amend the general statutes to protect consumers' privacy from social media businesses, including web sites, that operate in the state and utilize users' personal contact information for reasons of unsolicited, aggressive electronic marketing to third-party contacts, whether they be subscribers or nonsubscribers.

Statement of Purpose: 

To protect individuals from deceptive practices used to mine customer contacts for the purpose of generating unsolicited marketing.
