AN ACT CLARIFYING AND UPDATING THE MECHANISM BY WHICH WORKERS' COMPENSATION BENEFITS ARE PAID UPON AN EMPLOYEE'S DEATH.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That subsection (d) of section 31-308 of the general statutes is amended to (1) include persons who are parties to a civil union in addition to spouses, (2) remove gender-specific pronouns, and (3) require workers' compensation benefits to be paid to an employee's estate if the employee has no surviving spouse, civil partner, dependents or children.
Statement of Purpose:
To clarify and update the payment of worker compensation benefits upon the death of an employee.
