AN ACT SEPARATING THE FUNCTIONS OF THE PUBLIC UTILITIES REGULATORY AUTHORITY FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: That the general statutes be amended to separate the functions of the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority from the functions of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, establish a separate state agency to perform the functions of the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority and rename the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection as the Department of Environmental Protection. Statement of Purpose: To reverse the merger of the Department of Public Utility Control and the Department of Environmental Protection.
