AN ACT IMPROVING ACCESS TO ALL FDA-APPROVED METHODS OF CONTRACEPTION.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to (1) require insurance coverage of all contraceptive drugs, devices and other products approved by the federal Food and Drug Administration, including, but not limited to, over-the-counter contraceptives, (2) prohibit employers in Connecticut that offer prescription drug coverage from excluding coverage for prescription contraceptive methods approved by the federal Food and Drug Administration, except religious employers, for which certain prescription contraceptive methods are contrary to such employer's bona fide religious tenets, that shall instead be required disclose to their employees that they do not provide insurance coverage for such contraceptive methods, and (3) require closely held for-profit employers to disclose to all current and prospective employees if they have coverage limitations for employees for services other than prescription contraceptive methods that are derived from the beliefs of their principal shareholders. 

Statement of Purpose: 

To protect women's reproductive rights and respond to the United States Supreme Court's Hobby Lobby decision.
