AN ACT REQUIRING MUNICIPALITIES TO RECEIVE A LARGER PORTION OF THE REVENUE GENERATED BY THE ISSUANCE OF MOTOR VEHICLE VIOLATIONS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 51-56a of the general statutes be amended to increase the amount of revenue from fines collected for motor vehicle violations that is remitted to the municipalities in which the violations occurred.

Statement of Purpose: 

To provide equity in revenue sharing with municipalities and to provide an incentive to police departments to enforce motor vehicle violations, thereby increasing public safety on the roads.
