House Bill No. 6451 Public Act No. 15-136 AN ACT PROHIBITING MANDATORY REGISTRATION FOR CERTAIN CONSUMER WARRANTY COVERAGE. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. (NEW) (Effective July 1, 2015) (a) For purposes of this section, (1) "Express warranty" means a written statement arising out of a sale to a consumer of consumer goods pursuant to which the manufacturer, distributor or retailer undertakes to preserve or maintain the utility or performance of the consumer goods, or provide compensation if there is a failure in utility or performance, and (2) "consumer goods" means goods that are used or bought for use primarily for personal, family or household purposes. (b) Notwithstanding any provision of the general statutes, no manufacturer, distributor or retailer that makes an express warranty with respect to a consumer good may condition the initial term of such express warranty on the consumer registering such consumer good.
