AN ACT EXEMPTING SCHOOL DISTRICTS FROM PAYING MAGNET SCHOOL TUITION FOR CERTAIN STUDENTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That chapter 172 of the general statutes be amended to prohibit an interdistrict magnet school operator from charging tuition to a local or regional board of education for any student who is enrolled in an interdistrict magnet school on the basis of staff preference and who did not participate in the enrollment lottery for such magnet school.

Statement of Purpose: 

To relieve school districts from paying magnet school tuition for certain students.
