AN ACT CONCERNING EVIDENCE OF COLLATERAL SOURCE PAYMENTS IN A PERSONAL INJURY OR WRONGFUL DEATH ACTION.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 52-225a of the general statutes be amended to permit a party to a personal injury or wrongful death action to introduce evidence of collateral source payments at the time of trial for the purpose of proving or disproving the amount of a party's economic damages.
Statement of Purpose:
To allow a party to a personal injury or wrongful death action to introduce evidence of health insurance payments to establish or challenge the amount of claimed past and future medical costs to be awarded by a jury.
