AN ACT ALLOWING RESTAURANTS TO BE DESIGNATED AS ALLERGY FRIENDLY.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2015) The Commissioner of Public Health shall establish a program to allow restaurants to be designated as "Food Allergy Friendly". Participation by restaurants in the program shall be voluntary. The commissioner, in consultation with the Connecticut Restaurant Association and the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network, shall develop program guidelines for restaurants to receive the "Food Allergy Friendly" designation. Such guidelines shall include, but shall not be limited to, a requirement that each restaurant receiving said designation maintain on its premises and make available to members of the public a list of all of the ingredients used in the preparation of each food item available for consumption. The Department of Public Health shall maintain a list of restaurants that receive said designation and post such information on its Internet web site.
