2424 AN ACT ESTABLISHING A PILOT PROGRAM IN THE CITY OF BRIDGEPORT TO ALLOW FOR THE SERVICE OF A CAPIAS MITTIMUS ORDER BY AN OFF-DUTY CITY POLICE OFFICER.

2828 Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) There is established in the city of Bridgeport a pilot program to allow a sworn member of the city's police department to serve, when off-duty, a capias mittimus order issued by a family support magistrate in a IV-D support case, as defined in subdivision (13) of subsection (b) of section 46b-231 of the general statutes. Service of any order under this section shall be limited to those orders that are returnable to the judicial district of Fairfield, at Bridgeport. Fees payable to a sworn member of the city's police department for service of an order under this section shall be the same as the fees payable to a state marshal for the same service. The pilot program shall terminate on January 1, 2017.

3030 (b) Not later than April 1, 2017, the executive director of the Court Support Services Division of the Judicial Branch shall report, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes, on the implementation of the pilot program to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to the judiciary. Such report shall assess the effectiveness of the pilot program and include legislative recommendations concerning implementation of the pilot program on a state-wide basis.
