2424 AN ACT CONCERNING THE COST OF CERTIFICATION FOR A POLICE OFFICER.

2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

2828 That part I of chapter 104 of the general statutes be amended to require whenever a police officer obtains certification while employed by a law enforcement unit and is subsequently hired by another law enforcement unit within four years of such officer obtaining such certification, the law enforcement unit hiring the police officer shall reimburse the initial law enforcement unit the cost of training such officer as follows: (1) If the police officer is hired not more than one year after certification, reimbursement shall be the full cost of certification, (2) if the police officer is hired more than one year, but less than two years, after certification, reimbursement shall be two-thirds of the cost of certification, (3) if the police officer is hired more than two years, but less than three years, after certification, reimbursement shall be one-half of the cost of certification, and (4) if the police officer is hired more than three years, but less than four years, after certification, reimbursement shall be one-quarter of the cost of certification.
