AN ACT CONCERNING DISCHARGE OF HOSPITAL PATIENTS AND NOTIFICATION TO FAMILY CAREGIVERS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That chapter 368v of the general statutes be amended to require each hospital to notify a patient's family caregiver of the patient's diagnosis, date of release from the hospital and any aftercare requirements upon the patient's release from the hospital, as permitted under federal law.
Statement of Purpose:
To ensure family caregivers are recognized in a hospital setting and have information concerning their family member's release from the hospital so they can better understand the care that will be needed for their family member when he or she returns home from the hospital.
