AN ACT CONCERNING UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION AND ELIGIBILITY FOR EXTENDED BENEFITS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to (1) reduce the unemployment compensation extended benefit period from twenty weeks to fourteen weeks, and (2) allow any individual receiving such extended benefits who begins a new job prior to the end of such extended benefit period to receive a twelve-week supplemental grant in the amount of the difference between the individual's pre-unemployment wages and the wages paid at the new job.

Statement of Purpose: 

To encourage unemployed individuals to obtain work.
