AN ACT ALLOWING SPOUSES OF INSTITUTIONALIZED MEDICAID RECIPIENTS TO RETAIN THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT ALLOWABLE UNDER FEDERAL LAW.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 17b of the general statutes be amended to require the Commissioner of Social Services to amend the Medicaid state plan to allow spouses of institutionalized Medicaid recipients to retain the maximum amount allowable under federal law.

Statement of Purpose: 

To allow spouses of institutionalized Medicaid recipients to live independently in the community.
