AN ACT REQUIRING THE ADOPTION OF THE CARE ACT.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That title 19a of the general statutes be amended to adopt the Caregiver Advise, Record, Enable (CARE) Act to require hospitals to (1) identify a designated family caregiver, if any, when a patient is admitted, (2) notify such caregiver when the patient is to be moved or discharged, and (3) provide adequate instructions to such caregiver for the care of the patient following discharge.

Statement of Purpose: 

To adopt the CARE Act designed to empower family caregivers.
