2424 AN ACT CONCERNING A STUDY OF THE IMPACT OF HEAVY BACKPACKS ON CHILDREN.

2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

2828 That the Department of Education, in consultation with the Department of Public Health, conduct a study of that examines the impact of heavy backpacks on children. Such study shall (1) include, but not be limited to, the health issues created by heavy backpacks, methods available to alleviate the problem and recommendations for legislation, and (2) be submitted to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to children, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes, on or before February 1, 2016.
