2424 AN ACT CONCERNING TEACHER PREPARATION PROGRAM EFFECTIVENESS.

2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

2828 That section 10-145a of the general statutes be amended to require (1) any provider of a teacher preparation program to report data relating to such program, (2) accountability regarding the quality and effectiveness of teacher preparation programs and the graduates of such programs, (3) providers of teacher preparation programs to attract and recruit high-quality educators and school leaders from other states who have diverse experiences and backgrounds, (4) high standards for entrance into a teacher preparation program, (5) a robust clinical experience for students in teacher preparation programs, and (6) to facilitate alternate routes to certification for high-quality educators and school leaders.

3232 To improve and facilitate the recruitment and retention of diverse and qualified candidates for teacher preparation programs, to recruit high-quality teacher and administrator candidates to work in low-performing schools, and to improve the availability of public data about the diversity of and effectiveness of the state's teacher preparation programs.
