AN ACT CONCERNING LIABILITY FOR DAMAGE CAUSED BY A POLICE DOG.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 22-357 of the general statutes be amended to provide that liability for damage caused by a dog to a person or property does not apply to damage caused by a dog owned by the state or a political subdivision of the state and kept by an assigned law enforcement officer, his or her spouse or a person in the household of such officer. 

Statement of Purpose: 

To exempt an assigned law enforcement officer, his or her spouse and other household members from strict liability for damage caused by a police dog.
