AN ACT ESTABLISHING A TAX CREDIT FOR DEPENDENT CHILD CARE COSTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective January 1, 2017, and applicable to taxable years commencing on or after January 1, 2017) Any taxpayer who is subject to the tax imposed under chapter 229 of the general statutes for any taxable year shall be allowed a credit against the tax otherwise due under chapter 229 of the general statutes in an amount equal to the credit allowed the taxpayer against the federal income tax for employment-related expenses for the care of a dependent of the taxpayer, as defined in 26 USC 21(b)(1)(A), to the extent allowed under 26 USC 21.

 


This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose: 

To provide a credit against the personal income tax for employment-related day care costs for dependents under the age of thirteen.
