Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened: Section 1. Section 30-14a of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective January 1, 2017, and applicable to new permits issued on and after said date): A package store permit may be renewed by the person to whom it was issued or by any person who is a transferee or purchaser of premises operating under a package store permit and who meets the requirements of this chapter concerning eligibility for a liquor permit. Commencing June 8, 1986, the Department of Consumer Protection may issue one package store permit for every [twenty-five] seven thousand five hundred residents of a town as determined by the most recently completed decennial census. The department may authorize the holder of such permit to remove his permit premises to a location in another town provided such removal complies with the provisions of this chapter.
