2424 AN ACT CONCERNING OUTREACH EFFORTS TO SERVICE MEMBERS DURING THE FIRST THIRTY DAYS AFTER RETURNING FROM DEPLOYMENT.

2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

2828 Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2016) (a) The Adjutant General, in consultation with various department heads, as defined in section 4-5 of the general statutes, shall develop a conference for members of the armed forces, as defined in subsection (a) of section 27-103 of the general statutes, who are domiciled in this state and have returned from deployment. Such conference shall be presented to such members not later than thirty days after such members have returned to the state from deployment. Such conference shall focus on outreach efforts by various state agencies and opportunities for such agencies to provide assistance to such returning members. The Adjutant General shall (1) provide space in any armory of the state for the presentation of such conference, provided the Adjutant General shall give due consideration to the convenience of such returning members, and (2) invite the members of any other military unit in the state to attend such conference.

3030 (b) The department heads with whom the Adjutant General consults, in accordance with subsection (a) of this section, may include, but not be limited to, the Commissioner of Correction, the Commissioner of Economic and Community Development, the Commissioner of Emergency Services and Public Protection, the Labor Commissioner, the Commissioner of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the Commissioner of Social Services, the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles, the Commissioner of Housing, the Commissioner of Early Childhood and the Commissioner of Veterans' Affairs, the president of the Board of Regents for Higher Education, and the president of the Board of Trustees for The University of Connecticut, or the designee of any such official.
