AN ACT PROHIBITING THE RETROFITTING OF DIESEL-POWERED VEHICLES FOR THE PURPOSE OF EMITTING SOOT, SMOKE OR OTHER PARTICULATE MATTER .

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to prohibit the retrofitting of diesel-powered vehicles with any device, smoke stack or equipment that enhances the vehicle's ability to emit smoke, soot or other particulate matter. Also, any violation of such prohibition shall result in a penalty of not more than five thousand dollars per violation. 

Statement of Purpose: 

To prohibit the retrofitting of diesel vehicles with devices that enable the emission of enhanced smoke, soot or particulate matter.
