3232 AN ACT REFORMING THE CITIZENS' ELECTION PROGRAM.

3434 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

3636 That title 9 of the general statutes be amended to (1) eliminate increased grants under the Citizens' Election Program to candidates for primary campaigns in "party dominant" districts, (2) require that any adjustment in the amounts of grants under said program be voted upon by the General Assembly, (3) require that candidates for governor and lieutenant governor seek such candidates' party's nomination jointly as a ticket, (4) increase (A) by two hundred dollars, the maximum amount an individual may contribute under said program to the candidate committee of a candidate for Governor, and (B) by one hundred fifty thousand dollars, the amount any such committee shall raise to qualify for a grant under said program, (5) increase (A) by one hundred dollars, the maximum amount an individual may contribute under said program to the candidate committee of a candidate for Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of the State, State Comptroller, State Treasurer or Attorney General, and (B) by twenty-five thousand dollars, the amount any such committee shall raise to qualify for a grant under said program, (6) reduce by half all grants awarded under said program, (7) increase by one thousand dollars the maximum amount an individual may contribute to the candidate committee of a candidate for Governor that is not participating in said program, and (8) increase by one thousand dollars the maximum amount an individual may contribute to the candidate committee of a candidate for Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of the State, State Comptroller, State Treasurer or Attorney General that is not participating in said program.
