2424 AN ACT CONCERNING THE TRANSPORTATION OF STUDENTS WITH LIFE-THREATENING FOOD ALLERGIES.

2626 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

2828 That the general statutes be amended to require (1) the owner of any company that provides for the transportation of children to and from school or school activities to provide annual training of the operators of any vehicle owned, leased or hired by or operated under contract with the town or local or regional board of education regarding (A) symptoms and treatment of anaphylaxis, including, but not limited to, the administration of epinephrine auto injectors to any students who have been identified as having a life-threatening food allergy, and (B) the standards of care set forth by the American Academy of Pediatrics regarding the treatment of such students, (2) that all such operators have specific knowledge of the students who have been identified as having a life-threatening food allergy, (3) that all vehicles be equipped with functioning emergency communication devices, and (4) that no food be eaten in such vehicle unless indicated by an individualized education program or 504 plan.
