3636 AN ACT CONCERNING REVISIONS TO THE STATE'S SAFE HAVEN LAWS.

3838 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

4040 That chapter 319 of the general statutes be amended to revise the state's safe haven laws to: (1) Require the Department of Children to identify prospective adoptive families who will accept safe haven placements; (2) improve safe haven confidentiality requirements relating to parents, infants and hospital personnel; (3) place reasonable limitations on the use of genetic testing for safe haven infants; and (4) require the Department of Children and Families to (A) implement measures that strengthen protections for individuals caring for infants who are considered to be in the custody of the Department of Children and Families under the state's safe haven program, and (B) establish a team of individuals who specialize in the handling of safe haven cases.
